Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Colombo - Thirappane

Arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport and welcome by your private guide who will be waiting for you at the exit door after passing the immigration control and collecting the luggage. Presentation of the guide, accommodation in the vehicle and start of the tour, transferring us to Thirappane  (Driving time: approx. 4 hours and 30min). Depending on the arrival time and how tired you get on the flight, you can stop or not to refresh, eat and whatever you need.

Arrival and check in at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities and services.

Day 2
Thirappane - Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Thirappane

Breakfast at hotel.
Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress declared it a world Heritage site. The Fortress complex includes remains of a ruined palace, surrounded by an extensive network on fortifications, vast gardens, ponds, canals, alleys and fountains.

Thereafter leave for Polonnaruwa (approx. 1 hour and 30min), the UNESCO World Heritage City, which was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka and contains some splendid and spectacular statues.

Take a cycling tour (or by foot) at one of the better kept ruins of ancient Ceylon.

Return to the hotel.

Day 3
Thirappane - Anuradhapura - Thirappane

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure to explore the city of Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura was the first and largest capital of ancient Ceylon, known for its well-preserved ruins. It is currently protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site due to its archaeological and historical significance. Founded in the 4th century BC, it was the capital of the Kingdom of Anuradhapura until the beginning of the 9th century. The city's most famous relic is the sacred Bodhi Tree, believed to have grown from a branch of the tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment. It was planted 2250 years ago and is the oldest historically authenticated tree in the world. Today, this ancient city, sacred to Buddhism, with its surrounding monasteries covering an area of over 40 km2, is one of the largest archaeological sites in the world.

Return to the hotel. Free afternoon to enjoy the various activities offered by the hotel. Dinner and rest at the Thirappane hotel.

Day 4
Thirappane - Dambulla - Kandy

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Kandy (approx. 3 hours and 30 minutes). En route, we visit the Temple in the Dambulla Caves. It is a World Heritage Site and the most impressive cave temple in Sri Lanka. The complex of five caves with over 2000 square meters of murals and painted ceilings is the largest area of such paintings found in the world.

Arrival in Kandy, which was the last capital of the kings of Sri Lanka and is a World Heritage Site. The name "Kandy" evokes visions of splendor and magnificence. Many legends, traditions, and folklore are still alive in this city. We will visit the city, including the Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, and Gem Lapidary. We will also visit the Dalada Maligawa, the temple of the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. Visitors can experience a spiritual aspect of life, where they can offer flowers to the sacred tooth relic. They can also light oil lamps and incense in a peaceful and sacred atmosphere.

Day 5
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Morning: Tour to Nuwara Eliya

Breakfast and depart to Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya, due to its healthy climate of mountain and landscape, is the most famous place in Sri Lanka for a mountain holiday. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka tea production; a green mantle covers completely these mountains. You can taste a cup of tea from the very heart of Sri Lanka.

In the afternoon: visit to the tea plantations and factories

You will visit one of the tea production factories where you will learn about the different processes and various qualities.

Registrate at the selected hotel in Nuwara Eliya. Dinner and rest at hotel.

Day 6
Nuwara Eliya - Ella - Yala Park

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure to Yala (approx. 4 hours and 30 minutes). En route, we visit the Ravana Falls (25 meters, depending on the season and intensity of previous rainfall, the water flow may vary greatly).

In the afternoon, we head out for a jeep safari (in a group, organized by the hotel) in Yala National Park (Ruhuna). You will have the opportunity to observe three precious animals: leopard, sloth bear, and Asian elephant, of the five big mammals of Sri Lanka that are found in one place. These animals are not isolated, so patience is required to spot them. Yala is also famous for the spotted deer, sambar deer, crocodiles, mongoose, wild boar, wild buffalo, and many other animals. Additionally, there are over 130 species of registered birds, including endemic and migratory species.

Day 7
Yala Park

Early in the morning, with a picnic breakfast, we depart on a jeep for the morning safari in Yala National Park.

Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is free to enjoy the hotel's facilities and activities.

Day 8
Yala Park - Galle - Colombo

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure to Galle (approx. 3 hours). En route, we will visit Weligama to observe the skills of the famous stilt fishermen. Stilt fishing is an ancient tradition practiced by fishing families in southern Sri Lanka.

Arrival in Galle, where we will visit the Dutch Fort built in 1588 by the Portuguese and fortified by the Dutch in the 17th century. It is a historic, archaeological, and architectural monument of Sri Lanka, and declared a World Heritage Site.

After the visit, we continue by road to Colombo (approx. 2 hours and 30 minutes). Upon arrival in Colombo, we will take a city tour, where we will see Independence Square, the Fort, the Bazaar, the Hindu Temple, the Cinnamon Gardens, and the Old Parliament. Colombo, like many capitals in developing countries, is rapidly changing, although in some parts the charm of the old world still remains.

Colombo (departure)
