Breakfast at the hotel.
Today we will visit the Asian part of the city, on the other side of the intercontinental bridge of the Bosphorus. We will start our tour with a visit to the Beylerbeyi Palace, built in white marble by Sultan Abdülaziz in the 19th century. It has a magnificent garden with magnolias. The palace was used as a summer residence for the sultans and as a guest house for foreign dignitaries. On our way back to the European part we will visit the Basilica Cistern (Yerebatan), considered the most important water reserve in the city during the Byzantine times.
(Lunch at a local restaurant)
In the afternoon, we will visit the Eyup Quarter, the most revered Muslim shrine in Istanbul. After Mecca and Jerusalem it is the third most important pilgrimage site in the Islamic world. On the hill of the neighborhood, above the cemetery we’ll visit the famous Pierre Loti café from where you can appreciate a wonderful view of the Golden Horn.
Return to the hotel and free time to explore the city.
